From Nepal to You

A Journey of Sound & Craftsmanship

Our Commitment to Excellence

At AuraBowls, we believe in bringing together timeless wisdom and modern healing through Tibetan Singing Bowls. You'll find us in the workshops and godowns of Nepal and India, where our founder, Bikki Ranjitkar, a Nepal native based in California with 15 years of expertise, personally hand-picks each bowl from thousands. Through careful testing, he evaluates every bowl for its harmonic balance, ease of playing, and sustained resonance. Less than 1 in 10 meet these exacting standards, ensuring that only the finest pieces make their way into our collection. Using professional-grade recording equipment and acoustic technology, we meticulously capture and document each bowl's unique voice, helping you find the one that speaks to you. Whether you're a practitioner or just beginning your journey with sound healing, we're here to help you discover the perfect bowl for your practice.

Meet the Founder

Growing up in Kathmandu, Nepal, life felt simpler. There were more open fields, and farming was still a big part of daily life. Kids spent most of their time playing outside, without today’s distractions. The city had more greenery, and we’d often swim in lakes and rivers on warm days. It was a different Kathmandu, before urbanization changed the valley into the busy city it is now.

My journey with Tibetan Singing Bowls began at a young age, working alongside my step-father, Rain Gray. A pioneer in the industry, Rain co-founded Bodhisattva Trading Company before establishing iSingingBowls.com. He was the first person to bring Tibetan Singing Bowls to the digital world in the 1990s, earning a reputation as one of the most discerning buyers in the Himalayas.

Under his guidance, I learned the intricate art of selecting Legendary quality Tibetan singing bowls from thousands available in the godowns and workshops of the Himalayas. While I possessed the typical impatience of youth, there was one task that made time stand still – recording singing bowls. Even as a restless teenager, I would spend hours recording just a few bowls. The combination of frequencies and their harmonics affected me in a way that words couldn't capture.

The Journey to AuraBowls

After the devastating earthquake of 2015 which took lives of thousands (including some of my school friends) and destroyed countless homes across Nepal, our community faced an immense challenge. The magnitude 7.8 quake near Lamjung, about 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu, was felt throughout central and eastern Nepal, India, and southern Tibet. In the years that followed, we slowly rebuilt our city brick by brick, finding strength in each small step forward. As life gradually found its new rhythm, my own journey continued to unfold in unexpected ways.

In 2018, my path led me to California, USA. Like many immigrants, I balanced multiple jobs while maintaining my connection to my roots, continuing to assist my family with their company, iSingingBowls. A turning point came when I began sharing videos of me playing singing bowls on social media about 4-5 years ago. The response was deeply heartwarming – seeing how these beautiful sounds could positively impact people's lives. I realized I had something meaningful to offer the world.

Drawing from my 15 years of experience assessing and recording thousands of singing bowls, I founded AuraBowls with a clear mission: to serve both individuals and sound practitioners worldwide. This venture is more than a business – it's a continuation of a legacy and a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern healing needs.

Ethical Sourcing

Every Tibetan Singing Bowl in our collection helps preserve a way of life. We work directly with skilled artisans in Nepal and India, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their craft. This isn't just about business – it's about sustaining families and communities.

When you choose a bowl from AuraBowls, you're helping our artisans continue their traditional craft while staying close to their families. Many skilled workers in Nepal and India often face the difficult choice of leaving their loved ones behind to seek work in Gulf countries, enduring harsh heat and basic living conditions, all to support their loved ones. Through our partnerships, these craftspeople can earn a dignified living while remaining connected to their homes, heritage, and families.

We are deeply grateful to our customers for making this possible. Your support goes beyond acquiring a beautiful instrument – it helps maintain traditional craftsmanship and keeps families together. We also appreciate all other businesses that bring handcrafted items from Nepal to the world, contributing to ensuring our fellow artisans can stay with their families. This is what makes our work truly meaningful.
